StarHub loses 11,000 payTV subscribers in Q1

Customers are turning to cheaper alternatives.

If there's one thing StarHub has to worry about, it would be its payTV and broadband segments.

According to DBS Group Research, StarHub's payTV subscriber base declined by 11,000 during 1Q17. This translated to a 7% revenue decline in the segment.

"This brought 12-month subscriber loss to 41,000 as customers churned to the cheaper alternatives," DBS Group Research noted.

Meanwhile, StarHub's broadband subscriber base also declined by 3,000 during 1Q17 or around 1% of its subscriber base after being stable for a while.
