COE supply edges up 0.2% as category B quota rises, cat A falls

Larger-car allocation grows by 322, whilst the smaller-car quota drops by 300.

The supply of Certificates of Entitlement (COEs) available from August to October will rise 0.2% from 19,052 to 19,085, according to the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

The quota for Category A, covering smaller and less powerful cars, will fall by 300 to 7,134.

Meanwhile, Category B, which covers larger and more powerful cars, will receive 5,527 COEs, an increase of 322 from the previous quarter.

The quota for goods vehicles and buses will rise by 94 to 1,836, whilst motorcycle allocation will decline by 80 to 3,065.

The open category quota will be broadly unchanged at 1,523, down by three, LTA added.

Bidding under the new quota will begin on Aug. 3. Exercises are held on the first and third Monday of each month.

There will be a three-week gap between the second bidding exercise in August and the first exercise in September.

The quota for the November to January 2027 bidding period will be announced in October.

Most of the new quota consists of replacement COEs generated by vehicle deregistrations between July 2025 and June 2026.

The allocation also includes adjustments for changes in the taxi population, unused temporary COEs, the Early Turnover Scheme for commercial vehicles and the redistribution or injection of additional COEs.

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
