ComfortDelGro, Guangzhou Public Transport Group launch EV charging, services tie-up

Four charging stations with 250 chargers will be deployed in the city of Guangzhou in China.

Singapore-based ComfortDelGro and Chinese state-owned Guangzhou Public Transport Group (GZPTG) launched on Friday a new joint venture to deploy and operate electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure and other related services.

The newly formed Guangzhou ComfortDelGro Guangjiao New Energy Company is set to utilize its initial investment for four charging stations with 240 chargers with a total capacity of 21,600 kW.

These stations will be deployed in the Huangpu and Baiyun districts in the city of Guangzhou, in the Guangdong province of China, enough to support about 480 electric buses.

“As the leading land transport company in South China, GZPTG is firmly committed to low-carbon mobility solutions,” said Lin Dian Sheng, deputy general manager at GZPTG. “Our strategic partnership with ComfortDelGro taps on our respective strengths, enabling us to offer clean, efficient, and sustainable solutions to customers in China and beyond.”

ComfortDelGro operates a fleet of over 5,800 electric vehicles in China, while GZPTG has 13,000 electric buses in Guangzhou.

ComfortDelGro is one of the world’s largest land transportation companies spanning seven countries, while GZPTG is a subsidiary of the Guangzhou Municipal Government wholly-invested by the state.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
