Grab launches lane-level GPS pilot on mobile phones

It aims to address GPS accuracy degrading above 20 metres in dense urban areas.

Grab Singapore launched a high-accuracy, lane-level global positioning system pilot, the first in Southeast Asia to deploy on mobile phones integrated with a ride-hailing app.

This new system addresses the issue of standard GPS accuracy degrading above 20 metres in dense urban areas.

The pilot, in collaboration with Oppo, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., and Swift Navigation, began in October 2025 with nearly 250 selected drivers and delivery-partners.

Approximately 60 partners received the Oppo Find N5 foldable phone, which utilises a Dual Frequency GNSS, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform's Meter-Level Positioning for Mobile feature, and Swift Navigation’s Skylark™ Precise Positioning Service.
