SGBike becomes Singapore's biggest bike-share operator after licence transition

It will have a 25,000-strong fleet.

SG Bike has officially completed the license transition from Singapore Mobike to become the largest bike sharing operator in Singapore. SG Bike will be transiting to operate the full 25,000 bicycles in the city, according to an announcement.

As part of the transition, SG Bike will allow the public to unlock Mobike bicycles for free. All existing Mobike bicycles will also be made available on the SG Bike app for hire.

Existing Mobike users can also transfer and convert their Mobike account credit and ride pass to SG Bike account credit and ride pass. They will be able to log into the SG Bike app and create an account or login with the same existing Mobike mobile number.

All Mobike bicycles will be free for the first 30 minutes of each trip. “This trial period will allow SG Bike to better manage the new resources and make any necessary adjustments to fine tune its bike sharing services. It will end at a later date and users will be notified via an inapp notification,” the company said.

As for pricing, SG Bike has not expressed plans to change rates. Existing rates at $11.90 for 30 days ride pass and $3.90 for seven days ride pass will allow users to unlock both SG Bike and Mobike bicycles.

Bicycles will be made progressively available throughout Singapore, with the first area being the North-East region.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
