Singapore Airlines’ passenger capacity up by 9.2% in October
SIA and Scoot carried a combined 3.3 million passengers.
The Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group saw a 9.2% increase in passenger capacity to 15 million in October 2024, whilst passenger traffic grew by 7.4%.
The group’s passenger load factor (PLF) was 1.4 percentage points lower year-on-year (YoY) at 86%, with SIA and Scoot posting monthly PLFs of 86.1% and 85.4%, respectively.
The two airlines carried a combined 3.3 million passengers during the month, up by 7% from a year before.
During the month, Scoot expanded the group’s Southeast Asia (SEA) network with the launch of services to Malacca, Malaysia.
Services to Ningbo, China, were suspended in line with Scoot’s regular review and optimisation of its network.
At the end of October 2024, the group’s passenger network covered 127 destinations in 36 countries and territories.
SIA served 78 destinations, whilst Scoot served 71 destinations.
Meanwhile, cargo loads rose 20.2% on the back of higher peak season shipments and freighter charters, outpacing the 14.3% expansion in cargo capacity.
Consequently, the group’s cargo load factor increased by 3 pp to 59.1%.
The cargo network comprised 131 destinations in 37 countries and territories.
