Singapore launches 1st smart, clean-energy powered service stations

The service stations are located in Tampines, Pasir Ris, and Lakeview.

The Energy Market Authority (EMA) and Shell launched Singapore’s first smart and clean-energy powered service stations that will provide electric vehicles using renewable energy.

In a statement, the EMA said the project was developed by local renewable energy solutions provider Eigen Energy which receive an innovation grant from the Authority, Shell, and backed by Enterprise Singapore.

The three Shell service stations are located in Tampines, Pasir Ris, and Lake View, with the power provided for EV charging sourced from solar panels at rooftops at the stations and other Shell rooftops across the Lion City.

The service stations are also the fastest in Singapore, more than three times dater than the 50 kilowatts direct current chargers that are commonly available, EMA said.

"This project is a key milestone in our efforts to develop a more sustainable energy future for Singapore, particularly in electrifying our vehicle population and scaling up solar adoption,” EMA Chief Executive Ngiam Shih Chun said.

“The project demonstrates the importance of partnerships between government, industry leaders like Shell, and SMEs like Eigen Energy in realising a clean energy future. We look forward to more of such collaborations to co-create sustainable energy solutions with the industry," he added.
