SingPost launches lower-cost US shipping for retail customers
The rollout is in response to changes in US import regulations.
Singapore Post Limited has rolled out Speedpost Direct International (Retail) in response to recent changes in US import regulations.
The service allows retail customers to send parcels to the US using one of two standard packaging options provided at flat rates.
The standard envelope is priced at $29 for items up to 0.5 kilogramme (kg), whilst the standard box costs $69 for items up to 2kg. Each shipment’s value must not exceed more than $127.91 (US$100).
Meanwhile, existing packaging will be repacked into these formats to ensure compliance.
The service’s launch follows the suspension of the US “de minimis” exemption on 29 August.
Previously, international shipments valued under $1023.28 (US$800) could enter without duties or taxes.
The change now subjects all commercial items to duties, taxes, and enhanced scrutiny.
