This reaffirms the company's sustainability leadership.
Wilmar International Limited scored two points higher in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI) World Index in 2024, its bourse filing announced.
In the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment, Wilmar scored 69 out of 100, placing it in the 95th percentile of all food products companies assessed.
Wilmar particularly excelled in key ESG pillars: Environmental (75), Social (72), and Governance & Economic (58).
This is the fourth consecutive time it was included in the DJSI and the fifth year Wilmar has been recognized on the DJSI Asia Pacific Index, where it remains the only Singapore-based food products company represented.
Wilmar has implemented a series of initiatives to reinforce its sustainability commitments, including the No Deforestation, No Peat, No Exploitation Policy in 2013.
The company has also designated nearly 33,000 hectares of its oil palm and sugar plantations as conservation land, advanced its net-zero emissions commitments under the Science Based Targets initiative, and supported sectoral collaboration through the Palm Oil Sectoral Roadmap amongst other initiatives.
The DJSI, launched in 1999, is a global sustainability benchmark. The indices, including the DJSI World Index, evaluate companies based on environmental, social, and governance criteria.
These float-adjusted, market-capitalisation-weighted indices cover global, regional, and country-specific benchmarks to assess the performance of leading companies in sustainability practices.
