Changi Airport treats workers with new cafe, rest area expansion plans
CAG is also developing and trialling robotics for baggage handling.
Changi Airport Group (CAG) has announced plans to improve the workplace environment for its workers with a second airside cafe and expanded rest areas next year.
Within the baggage handling areas, CAG will revamp the ‘Rest & Dine’ spaces in the baggage areas by the end of this year, allowing workers to rest in place and be within an area to relax.
This was announced by Transport Minister Chee Hong Tat at the annual airport celebration.
It also includes improving existing infrastructure, such as the check-in services and baggage handling.
“The Singaporean airport service company will continue to adopt assistive equipment to minimise the manual and repetitive loading and unloading of baggage and cargo,” the minister said.
He added that CAG is developing and trialling robotics for baggage handling, and exploring autonomous vehicles to automate point-to-point towing at the airside.
The group will also enhance airside restrooms over the next three years, improving their lighting ventilation and increasing the number of toilets.
“CAG will also repurpose lightning shelters at the airside, from basic shelters without seating or ventilation, to ‘pit stops’, with seating and fans to provide better protection from the sun and the rain,” he said.
