Daily Briefing: SIA eyes more flights to Paris; Are Singaporeans really that rich?

And here's the ultimate guide to investing in a property.

From Get.com via Yahoo!: There's good news if you have a penchant for flying with Singapore Airlines. Subject to regulatory approvals, from 29 October 2017 to 24 March 2018, Singapore Airlines will be offering 10 flights weekly from Singapore's Changi Airport to Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport, up from the current daily flights. The 3 additional flights will operate on Saturdays, Mondays and Thursdays. SQ334 is the flight from Singapore to Paris, while SQ333 is the flight from Paris to Singapore - not to be confused with the current daily SQ336 and SQ335 services.

From Dollars and Sense via Yahoo!: Singapore is often cited in global surveys and reports as one of the world’s richest nations. In fact, when it comes to purchasing power in 2017, the International Monetary Fund ranks our island nation’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product), which comes in at US$91,000 ($124,600), as 4th highest in the world. Credit Suisse also ran a recent report ranking Singaporeans as the richest population in Asia at number 10, with wealth of close to US$277,000 ($379,100) per adult. What this portrays in the global marketplace is that Singapore is a rich man’s playground. This is, even more, indicting when people find out that the cheapest cars in Singapore cost $76,000 and subsidised government housing for locals (a.k.a HDB flats) are being sold at over $1 million.

From iCompareLoan.com via Yahoo!: Property as an asset is illiquid and unique unlike shares traded in the stock market. As an investor, you will also need to manage the property to ensure it is well maintained and that the property is rented out or fetches a higher value in the market when you sell it. This requires expertise and incurring further costs in managing the property. However, it may pay off with handsome returns with some luck, research and foresight.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
