HTX awards grant to Vertical Aerospace for electric medical flight trial
The project explores using eVTOL aircraft for emergencies in remote island areas.
The Home Team Science & Technology Agency (HTX), through its innovation centre Hatch, has awarded Vertical Aerospace a proof-of-concept grant after selecting the company as a winner of the ‘Dimension X Cohort 7 Challenge’.
The grant supports a project to study the use of electric vertical take-off and landing and vertical take-off and landing aircraft for time-critical medical response in Singapore’s remote island areas.
Under the programme, Vertical will work with HTX, Hatch and operational stakeholders to develop an emergency medical services concept of operations aligned with real operational and regulatory requirements
The project will also evaluate medical cabin configurations for patient transport and in-flight care, and include a proof-of-concept flight demonstration to assess mission feasibility, safety and response times.
The project will run through April 2026.
