SIA Group passenger traffic up 8.6% in January

The group’s passenger load reached 87.8%.

The Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group reported an 8.6% increase in passenger traffic in January 2025, driven by strong travel demand during the Lunar New Year season.

The growth outpaced the 5.5% rise in capacity, pushing the group’s passenger load factor (PLF) up 2.5 percentage points to 87.8%.

The group recorded a PLF of 87.2%, whilst Scoot reached 90.3%. Total passenger carriage rose 9.1% to 3.5 million.

Cargo loads increased by 2.6%, but capacity expanded by 9.5%, leading to a decline in the cargo load factor to 51.1%. Weaker inventory stocking and factory closures contributed to subdued demand.

In route expansions, Scoot launched new passenger services to Padang, Indonesia, and Shantou, China. By the end of January, the SIA Group served 131 destinations in 36 countries, with SIA covering 80 and Scoot 74. The cargo network reached 135 destinations in 37 countries.
