Singapore Airlines load factor up for 5th month

SIA’s PLF rose encouragingly to 83.0% from 78.8% in Jun 2011.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) released its Jun 2012 operating statistics and the parent airline’s passenger load factor (PLF) improved YoY for the fifth month in a row.

SIA’s PLF rose encouragingly to 83.0% from 78.8% in Jun 2011.

SIA said the summer travel peak season started in Jun 2012 and passenger traffic was boosted by promotional activities, resulting in PLF improvement across all regions.

OCBC however notes that passenger yields are expected to fall as a result of the promotional fares. Elsewhere, SilkAir’s PLF fell 0.4ppt to 78.7% and SIA Cargo’s freight load factor slid 0.9ppt to 63.1%.
