Singapore unveils 45-step aviation safety plan
The plan identifies key safety challenges, including operational risks such as runway incidents.
Singapore has released a new National Aviation Safety Plan detailing 45 actions to strengthen aviation safety over the next three years, as air passenger volumes reach record highs and are projected to grow further.
Unveiled by the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the 2025–2027 plan identifies key safety challenges, including operational risks such as runway incidents, manpower constraints, interference with satellite navigation systems, and the integration of emerging technologies.
The plan prioritises four key areas: improving operational safety through infrastructure and system upgrades; updating policies to support innovation without compromising safety; strengthening safety management culture across the sector; and developing human capital to sustain safe aviation operations.
CAAS, which oversees more than 200 aviation companies, 220 aircraft, and 25,000 professionals, said the new plan builds on the earlier 2022 version, of which 75% of the 50 initiatives have been implemented.
