Singapore upgrades ASAs with Argentina and Türkiye
The agreement with Türkiye has been expanded to operate up to 17 weekly passenger services.
Singapore has upgraded its Air Services Agreements (ASAs) with Argentina and Türkiye in a move to enhance air connectivity and facilitate greater travel and trade links, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) announced.
Under the revised accord with Argentina, the 1997 ASA has been upgraded to an Open Skies Agreement (OSA), allowing designated airlines of both countries to operate passenger and cargo flights between and beyond the two states without restrictions on frequency, capacity, routing, or aircraft type.
CAAS described the OSA as a milestone that removes previous routing limitations and deepens bilateral relations.
The agreements were signed on 25 September in Montreal during the International Civil Aviation Organization’s (ICAO) 42nd Assembly by Han Kok Juan, Director-General of CAAS, together with Oscar Alfredo Villabona, National Administrator of Civil Aviation of Argentina, and Prof. Dr. Kemal Yüksek, Director-General of Türkiye’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation
The agreement with Türkiye, last updated in 2014, has been expanded to permit carriers from both sides to operate up to 17 weekly passenger services between Singapore and Türkiye, along with four weekly all-cargo services.
At present, Singapore Airlines and Turkish Airlines operate four and 14 weekly non-stop passenger flights respectively between Singapore and Istanbul.
Singapore has signed ASAs with more than 140 countries and territories, over 80 of which are Open Skies Agreements.
