Tiger Airways’ Aussie planes to remain grounded until August 3

The LCC said it will automatically refund all passengers booked to fly between August 1 and 4.

In a statement, DMG Research said it is expecting the airline to resume its flights on August 5 at the earliest because of the dates chosen by the airline for a refund.

The LCC had previously announced that its Australian flights will remain grounded until at least August 3 after the airline and the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia (CASA) applied for an adjournment of a hearing by the Federal Court of Australia until that day.

CASA only issued the airline with “a set of formal conditions,” some of which had to be met before flights could resume, on July 29.

According to the analyst, Chin Yau Seng, Tiger Singapore’s CEO, said that the LCC would review its network in Australia following the events that led to the suspension of its domestic operations on July 2 for five working days.

The CASA cited “a serious and imminent risk to air safety” and a loss of confidence in its ability to address safety issues as bases for it decision to ground the airline.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
