Facebook data centre to support ‘hundreds of jobs' in Singapore

It posted new jobs for data centre construction.

Facebook expects its data centre in Singapore to “support hundreds of jobs” as it forms parts of its presence in the city and across Asia. Yesterday, it announced that it would invest $1.4b in the data centre that will be built in the Jurong East district.

The social media network has started posting infrastructure jobs related to the construction of the data centre in its careers page. More jobs are expected to come in the following weeks.

Roles currently available include the data centre’s plan & build manager, logistics systems lead, and construction programme engineer.

Facebook said in its previous announcement that Singapore was selected as the location for the data centre due to “robust infrastructure and access to fibre, a talented local workforce, and a great set of community partners.”

"Singapore has also established policies that foster a business-friendly environment, including measures that support the enforcement of contracts and increase the ease of construction permitting," it added.

Fortis Construction has been selected as the project's general contractor.
