
ST Engineering's urban solutions unit clinches $430m rail deal in Taiwan
The nine-year contract will start by mid-2023.
ST Engineering's urban solutions business has sealed a contract worth over $430m with Kaohsiung City Mass Rapid Transit Bureau of Taiwan to build a new MRT line.
Under the contract, Urban Solutions will lead systems integration and overall project manay for the new Kaohsiung MRT Red Line South Extension, which shall be known as the Siaogang-Linyuan Line.
The unit will also provide rail electronics solutions including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system, communications system, automatic fare collection system, platform screen doors and depot equipment.
The nine-year contract will start by mid-2023.
“We are excited about the opportunity to lead the Red Line South Extension project which will enhance connectivity in Southern Kaohsiung, catalyse economic growth and improve quality of life for the local communities,” said Chew Men Leong, president of Urban Solutions at ST Engineering.
ST Engineering Urban Solutions has engineered rail projects in Taiwan for 30 years. In the past two years, it won service contracts for the Kaohsiung MRT Yellow Line and the Kaohsiung MRT Red Line North Extension,
