Atlas deploys Alibaba Cloud’s revolutionary cloud, AI technologies to power travel innovations

For these achievements, the company took home top honours at the SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2025.

Atlas, in partnership with Alibaba Cloud, has been named a winner at the SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2025, taking home the award in the AI - Travel Services category. The win recognises how Atlas is using AI and cloud technology to eliminate long-standing barriers in airline retailing.

Founded in Singapore and operating globally, Atlas is on a mission to reshape low-cost carriers’ (LCC) retailing through powerful, reliable, and scalable technology. Today, the Atlas AI Solution enables the company to connect travel sellers with 150+ airlines worldwide, offering a complete, streamlined, and effective tech solution.

Revolutionising travel

Atlas is applying AI to revolutionise low-cost flight retailing—an industry marked by operational complexity and massive data exchanged by involved parties at any point in time. Atlas has developed AI-powered systems to automate key operational tasks such as monitoring airline data quality, resolving ticketing issues, and providing global customer support.

By using AI to predict price fluctuations, Atlas enables travel sellers to display accurate fares whilst maintaining fast, cost-efficient search performance. This improves the traveller experience at checkout, drives higher conversion rates, and reduces booking friction. AI also supports the commercial side of the business by delivering actionable insights that help partners grow revenue and address issues proactively, bringing intelligence and scalability to every layer of the travel retail ecosystem.

To support the massive data volume that Atlas generates, Alibaba Cloud implemented advanced technologies, including Kubernetes-based containerisation and an observable data management solution that is deeply integrated with Alibaba Cloud's database and storage solutions. This was paired with ApsaraDB, Redis, and Object Storage Service to ensure seamless data management, high availability, and compliance with international data privacy standards.

Additionally, Alibaba Cloud’s AI-powered Platform for AI (PAI) provides Atlas with real-time insights into flight search trends, pricing fluctuations, and customer behaviour to allow data-driven decision-making and predictive analytics at Atlas.

The partnership, which started in 2021, has enabled Atlas to eliminate traditional barriers in booking low-cost flights, resulting in a 45% reduction in operational costs and a 97% cache fare accuracy rate in the booking process. It also scaled capacity to serve more than 50 travel sellers and over 150 airlines, whilst streamlining operations to assist up to 800 million API calls daily.

“Low-cost carriers’ content distribution runs on razor-thin margins, where efficiency and scalability aren’t just nice to have—they’re essential,” says Mary Li, CEO and Founder of Atlas. “That’s why we’ve built AI into the core of our infrastructure—to solve real-world problems, reduce costs, and scale without compromise. Partnering with Alibaba Cloud to power our AI infrastructure has allowed us to leverage best-in-class technology, combine it with our industry expertise, and bring innovative solutions to market quickly and efficiently.”

Atlas is also thrilled to leverage the Infocomm Media Development Authority’s Digital Enterprise Blueprint, designed to empower enterprises and workers through advanced technology adoption. As a pledge partner to this initiative, Alibaba Cloud stands at the forefront of enabling enterprises like Atlas to strengthen their AI adoption.

Looking ahead, Atlas intends to explore more of Alibaba Cloud’s rapidly expanding AI capabilities and out-of-the-box business insight capabilities to leverage data-driven insights and continue growing its business.

The timing could not be more opportune. As Alibaba Cloud celebrates its 10th anniversary in Singapore, marking a decade of driving digital transformation across industries, Atlas’ decision to amplify its reliance on the platform’s AI-powered tools reflects the tangible, long-term benefits of embracing innovation. Together, Atlas and Alibaba Cloud are proving that mutually beneficial partnerships and technological agility can fuel even greater success and measurable value.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
