Cadence Cerebrus garners Singapore Business Review's tech award for AI-semiconductor services

The company ushers in a new era of semiconductor design with the use of artificial intelligence (AI) technology that optimises power, performance, and area (PPA) and improves engineering productivity.

Cadence Design Systems, Inc. has won an award in the AI-semiconductor services category for its AI-driven Cadence® Cerebrus™ Intelligent Chip Explorer, which automates and scales digital chip design, enabling customers to efficiently achieve demanding chip design goals.

Cadence will be presented with this recognition at the 2023 Singapore Technology Excellence Awards.

With more than 30 years of computational software expertise, Cadence applies its underlying Intelligent System Design strategy to deliver software, hardware, and IP that turn design concepts into reality.

As the semiconductor industry continues to grow based on drivers like 5G, autonomous driving, hyperscale computing, and industrial IoT (IIoT), there is a need for more efficient chip design processes to keep up with the demand for even more compute power and functionality in the devices we use every day.

The Cadence Cerebrus is built on massive, cloud-enabled, distributed computing and utilises the complete Cadence digital full-flow solution, allowing for a completely automated, AI-driven, RTL-to-GDS full-flow optimisation technology.

Cadence Cerebrus uses AI to deliver better design power, performance, and area (PPA) results with significantly less engineering effort and reduced time to tape out. By automating the implementation flow optimisation, Cadence Cerebrus delivers better PPA results more quickly than a manually tuned flow, improving engineering team productivity.

“We’re always looking for new ways to empower our customers to be more productive, and Cadence Cerebrus minimises manual work through its AI capabilities so design engineers can focus on more critical projects,” said Dr Chin-Chi Teng, senior vice president and general manager, Digital & Signoff Group at Cadence.

In addition, Cadence Cerebrus can explore high-level design optimisations, such as dynamically resizing and shaping a floorplan to improve PPA much more efficiently than a manual approach. All design learnings are stored and can easily be applied to future design projects to optimise the flow even more quickly.

Cadence Cerebrus has been deployed at 10 out of the top 20 semiconductor companies in the world, at multiple hyperscalers and many others. This year, Broadcom, TI, Microchip and additional well-known companies presented their successes with Cadence Cerebrus at a recent CadenceLIVE event. Last year, 23 papers were presented around the world at CadenceLIVE events by many leading companies like MediaTek, Renesas, Samsung, NVIDIA, STMicroelectronics, Marvell and more, highlighting the wide-reaching impact of Cadence Cerebrus and its positive effect on PPA and engineering productivity.

Cadence Cerebrus’ automation enables engineering teams to scale more efficiently and boost productivity, so more designs can be implemented concurrently.
Cadence Cerebrus is part of the Cadence digital full flow, which includes the Innovus™ Implementation System, Genus™ Synthesis Solution, and Tempus™ Timing Signoff Solution, and supports the Cadence Intelligent System Design™ strategy, enabling customers to achieve SoC design excellence.

Cadence Cerebrus, when coupled with the broader Cadence digital product portfolio, provides a breakthrough engineering benefit with the industry’s most advanced digital full flow, from synthesis through implementation and signoff.

All in all, Cadence Cerebrus revolutionises chip design productivity, allowing the semiconductor industry to continue growing and delivering new SoC product features and capabilities we all expect in our increasingly connected world.
