FairPrice Group receives accolade at SBR National Business Awards 2025

The company aims to pioneer the integration of autonomous vehicles into its logistics operations.

Singapore's leading retailer, FairPrice Group, brought home the coveted SBR National Business Awards 2025 in the Supply Chain category for its Transport Transformation initiative. The initiative reflects its commitment to keeping daily essentials within reach through supply chain innovation and dedication to integrating sustainability across its businesses and touch-points.

Through the Transport Transformation initiative, FPG seeks to enhance supply chain efficiency with the automation of routine transportation tasks, reducing reliance on manual labour and enabling more efficient resource utilisation. The project is designed to streamline operations by increasing productivity across FPG’s logistics network.

Additionally, FPG is furthering its sustainability goals by integrating electric propulsion into its vehicle fleet, reducing carbon emissions traditionally associated with logistics operations. Each autonomous vehicle lowers individual vehicle carbon dioxide emissions by 68%, compared to traditional diesel-powered 24 FT trucks. This deployment is projected to reduce FPG’s annual carbon dioxide emissions by 27 tons.

During the initiative’s trial operations between FPG’s Benoi and Joo Koon distribution centres, the autonomous vehicles have consistently and reliably transported palletised goods, achieving a 100% success rate. This enhanced operational efficiency by increasing agility within FPG’s logistics network and enabled the workforce to focus on more complex, strategic, and higher-value tasks.

If the trials continue to prove successful, the autonomous vehicle fleet will be scaled to cover additional routes, including those for last-mile delivery to retail outlets. The autonomous vehicle initiative supplements FPG’s ongoing efforts to ensure a sustainable and efficient supply chain, and ultimately make every day a little better for those it serves.

The Transport Transformation initiative is part of an ongoing partnership with a leading autonomous driving technology company to integrate autonomous vehicles into FPG’s vehicle fleet.
