Their innovative software solutions for Kopitiam enhanced the food experience for diners.

FairPrice Group (FPG) has been recognised at the SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2024, winning in the Enterprise Software - Food & Beverage category. This prestigious award underscores FPG's dedication to leveraging technology and data to streamline and enhance food experiences for generations. It exemplifies the organisation’s social mission of keeping daily essentials and food within reach and supporting the vulnerable in society.

FPG's transformative journey in software development for Kopitiam, a prominent food court, hawker centre, and coffee shop operator in Singapore, has set a new benchmark in the industry. Serving approximately 2 million customers and delivering over 100 million meals annually across more than 100 outlets island-wide, Kopitiam has significantly benefited from FPG's innovative suite of three applications. This suite, designed to enhance experiences for all stakeholders, comprises:

  • Point-of-Sales (POS) app - Streamlines ordering, payments, discounts, and Linkpoints, enabling smooth cashless transactions and efficient order management for a superior customer experience.
  • Admin Panel app - Empowers staff with real-time performance insights, allowing for data-driven decision-making and operational excellence.
  • Partner Centre app - Provides Kopitiam stall tenants with unparalleled data access and transparency for informed business decisions and optimised operations.

Key innovations introduced by this project include Omnichannel Integration, Data-Driven Insights, and Cross-operating System Compatibility. These features collectively enhance customer satisfaction through seamless ordering and loyalty rewards, enable targeted marketing and optimised operations based on robust data analytics, and ensure wide accessibility through compatibility with both Windows and Android operating systems.

The project has achieved remarkable outcomes:

  • Enhanced customer experience across over 80 outlets with 1,000+ POS systems facilitating over 200,000 daily transactions.
  • Increased operational efficiency with reduced errors and automated tasks.
  • Successful transition from Kopitiam cards to the FPG app, engaging over 750,000 customers and boasting over 1 million monthly active users.

Looking forward, FPG is positioned for further expansion across more outlets and brands, with plans to develop new functionalities and iterative improvements based on feedback from customers, staff, and tenants. This commitment to continuous improvement through agile methodology is a testament to the transformative power of digital innovation in enhancing efficiency, revenue, and customer experience.

As FairPrice Group continues to evolve and expand its digital footprint, the success of the Kopitiam software development project serves as a testament to the company's leadership in driving forward-thinking solutions in Singapore's vibrant culinary landscape. The recognition at the SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2024 not only marks a milestone in FPG's achievements but is also a reflection of its ongoing commitment to excellence and innovation in the Food & Beverage industry.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
