Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine wins SBR Management Excellence Awards for employee well-being programme

LKCMedicine Cares focuses on year-round events surrounding mental health, physical wellness, and social well-being.

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) was awarded as the winner of the Health & Wellness Initiative of the Year - Education category at the SBR Management Excellence Awards for its holistic employee well-being programme LKCMedicine Cares.

Launched in July 2022, LKCMedicine Cares focuses on well-being beyond the physical health aspects and includes activities on social wellbeing and mental health to cater to the needs of a diverse workforce. Given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health and the dearth of in-person social interactions for more than two years, the LKCMedicine Cares workgroup had strategised the inclusion of activities on mental health and social well-being to better support the needs of the LKCMedicine staff and faculty.

Under this, the programme has organised a wide spectrum of events and activities, including mindfulness workshops, psychological first aid, fitness classes, health screening, coffee chats, social workshops, and social events. It has also intentionally supported social causes in its activities when possible.

To date, 31 employees have also been trained in psychological first aid. Plans for a network of peer helpers for colleagues who may need support are in the pipeline.

The introduction of a comprehensive range of activities has also added to campus vibrancy, fostered interdepartmental interactions, and increased employee engagement. These have also received positive feedback from stakeholders.

The SBR Management Excellence Awards is an esteemed awards programme dedicated to recognising and celebrating the remarkable achievements of leaders, innovators, teams, and initiatives that drive growth and make a positive impact on both business operations and its workforce.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
