Mastercard wins at SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2025 for groundbreaking Innovation Circuit

Its Innovation Circuit is a transformative programme that reimagines the future of commerce through emerging technology and real-world applications.

Mastercard has been recognised in the Digital - Financial Technology category at the SBR Technology Excellence Awards 2025, a testament to its bold vision for the future of commerce through the Innovation Circuit programme.

Developed by Mastercard’s Foundry team in Asia Pacific, the Innovation Circuit is a pioneering initiative that blends cutting-edge technology with immersive customer experiences. Designed to inspire, educate, and accelerate digital transformation, the programme enables businesses to explore how Mastercard’s innovations can be applied to real-world scenarios to unlock growth.

Since its launch in 2023, the Innovation Circuit has hosted over 2,000 visitors across 120 sessions spanning 19 industries – from banking and fintech to government, healthcare, and retail. Designed as an immersive, hands-on experience, the programme brings Mastercard’s innovations to life, showcasing how emerging technologies are transforming the future of commerce in tangible and impactful ways.

A journey through innovation

The experience is structured around Mastercard’s “Seasons of Innovation,” each themed around the intersection of transformative technologies and the human experience:

  • Season of Intelligence – Delivering personalised interactions powered by generative AI
  • Season of Immersion – Enhancing retail engagement with extended reality (XR)
  • Season of Interoperability – Enabling in-vehicle commerce through IoT-powered payments
  • Season of Empowerment – Fuelling small business growth through Super Apps

One standout feature is the Universal Wallet, which showcases the future of digital wallets. By integrating tokenisation and multiple digital assets, it demonstrates Mastercard’s leadership in secure, seamless, and future-ready digital transactions.

From inspiration to implementation

More than just a showcase, the Innovation Circuit has become a catalyst for co-creation. Its immersive format has led to the development of real-world initiatives – from reimagining SME banking interfaces to piloting cross-border payment solutions and embedding secure IoT capabilities into fleet management systems.

Notably, a third of the sessions in 2024 were with non-financial institutions, underscoring its wide appeal and relevance across sectors. It has fast become a trusted source of innovation for organisations seeking to enhance customer experience and digital innovations.

Scaling global impact

Originally launched as Mastercard’s flagship customer engagement platform in Asia Pacific, the Innovation Circuit has drawn strong interest from across the globe. Its proven success has attracted visitors from outside the region, with international guests travelling to experience the programme firsthand. This growing demand underscores the global relevance of the Innovation Circuit and its ability to inspire innovation beyond borders.

The programme is refreshed annually with curated, forward-looking technologies, ensuring it stays at the cutting edge of what is next in commerce. With each evolution, Mastercard continues to redefine what is possible – empowering businesses to create smarter, simpler, and more secure experiences.

With the Innovation Circuit, Mastercard is not just shaping the future of commerce – it's inviting others to build it together.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
