ShopeePay recognised at Singapore Business Review National Business Awards 2026 for integrated payment solution
ShopeePay embedded offline payment capabilities into its digital wallet, integrating with Singapore’s national QR infrastructure to expand access to simple, rewarding everyday cashless payments.
ShopeePay has been recognised in the Payments category at the Singapore Business Review National Business Awards 2026, underscoring its commitment to making everyday transactions simpler, more accessible, and rewarding for consumers and businesses.
In Singapore’s highly developed yet fragmented cashless ecosystem, digital payments are widely used, but offline transactions — particularly at hawker stalls and neighbourhood shops — can still be inconsistent. Consumers often switch between cash and multiple payment methods, whilst small businesses face barriers such as cost, complexity, and limited technical know-how when adopting digital solutions.
ShopeePay addressed these challenges by embedding offline payment capabilities directly into its digital wallet, allowing users to manage online and in-store transactions through a single, familiar platform whilst earning loyalty points (Shopee Coins) redeemable across e-commerce, retail, and other sectors. For merchants, this integration simplified digital payment adoption, enabling them to participate in the digital economy more readily.
As digital lifestyles become the norm, this solution addresses the growing need for a simple, widely accepted payment solution that works seamlessly across daily use cases whilst still delivering real value to both users and businesses.
By linking rewards with everyday spending, it also encourages users to make cashless payments an everyday habit.
A cornerstone of this success was ShopeePay’s integration with Singapore’s national QR infrastructure (SGQR) in 2023. This feature enabled ShopeePay access to over 13,000 NETS-supported hawker and coffee shop stalls that offer scan-and-pay using a standardised QR code, which was further strengthened in 2025 when ShopeePay joined the enhanced SGQR+ ecosystem through a partnership with NETS. This brought in over 24,000 additional merchants and improved the overall interoperable QR payment experience in Singapore, enabling users to benefit from smoother everyday digital transactions and merchants to reach more digitally active consumers with minimal operational setup.
ShopeePay further encouraged offline digital payment usage through targeted incentives like the 1% Hawker Cashback campaign, rewarding everyday transactions with loyalty points (Shopee Coins) and accelerating merchant adoption. Hawker transactions rose over 40% within three months of the campaign.
ShopeePay is looking to extend its offline payment capabilities beyond Singapore through cross-border QR payments, enhancing regional financial connectivity and providing users with simple, accessible payment experiences abroad. The digital payment and financial services provider recently announced its first cross-border payment partnership with Alipay+, which will connect Singapore users to over 150 million offline merchant QR codes across more than 100 markets.
