Building future-ready tech talent, accelerating growth with NTUC LearningHub

Organisations secure their digital future by investing in people.

Once seen as a competitive edge, the right tech skills are now essential in today’s fast-paced digital landscape. This shift challenges companies to continuously invest in the development of their human capital in order to remain competitive and resilient in the face of market competition.

Recognising the urgent need for skilled talent, GECO Asia, an IT consulting and talent solutions firm, partnered with NTUC LearningHub to create a scalable learning and development model that equips professionals with the skills and competencies to succeed in real-world projects whilst supporting Singapore’s vision on national transformation.

With projects spanning over 10 industries and technologies like Artificial intelligence, Blockchain, Cloud, and Data (ABCD), GECO Asia chose to proactively address its talent needs by working with the leading Continuing Education Training Provider in Singapore.

NTUC LearningHub supports small and medium enterprises (SMEs) by offering accessible, affordable, and industry-relevant training solutions that empower them to build essential digital capabilities. From foundational skills to advanced digital transformation, its customised programmes are designed to fit into the unique rhythms of smaller teams, minimising operational disruptions.

With personalised guidance and practical learning pathways, SMEs are empowered to not only stay ahead of change but to also compete effectively and confidently in a dynamic business environment.

Nurturing project-ready talent from within

Recognising the critical role of continuous learning and development, GECO Asia has embraced upskilling and reskilling as key drivers of future growth.

“The pace of innovation demanded it. We saw firsthand that waiting for ‘perfectly trained’ talent was not sustainable, so we decided to upskill our own,” said Christie Dao, Director of Capability & Organisation Optimisation of GECO Asia.

This insight served as the backbone of GECO Asia’s Tech Talent Accelerator, a training framework that begins with broad foundational knowledge across technologies like AI, Blockchain, Cloud, and Data (ABCD), then deepens into specialised skills tailored to real project needs.

But technical skills alone weren’t enough.

“We needed a workforce that wasn’t just technically sound, but truly project-ready. That became our training objective,” Christie stated.

With this goal in mind, GECO Asia set out to build a truly project-ready workforce, partnering with NTUC LearningHub as its trusted learning partner— a collaboration that brings together both credibility and the flexibility needed to meet evolving business demands.

Developing talent through industry-aligned learning

NTUC LearningHub goes beyond offering job-ready courses to lay out a strong foundation for its clients’ growth. In the case of GECO Asia, the training provider delivered structure, scale, and industry relevance, helping to strengthen the company’s workforce development initiatives. This is achieved through trainers who combine pedagogical strength with real-world experience.

From cloud computing fundamentals to career conversion programmes, NTUC LearningHub’s training provided the foundation for GECO Asia’s skill strategy, equipping their employees with the core competencies needed to succeed before progressing to more specialised, in-house training.

Together, GECO Asia and NTUC LearningHub crafted customised learning journeys, established clear KPIs, and monitored progress through assessments and workplace performance evaluations.

“We start with real project demands. Then we curate training pathways that build toward those end goals,” Christie said. “By combining these customised training pathways with client capstone projects, we work together with our talent as well as our training partners to fill in any gaps.”

The results from the partnership were swift. Trainees who completed foundational training with NTUC LearningHub were quickly deployed into live projects, where they apply their skills to solve real business challenges. Notably, this often transpires just weeks after training.

Christie further pointed out how NTUC LearningHub stood out for its certified and scalable programmes, responsive and tailored training solutions, as well as its alignment with current industry needs. She described the training approach as future-focused and adaptive—staying ahead of emerging technology trends whilst integrating seamlessly into GECO Asia’s broader training framework.

“NTUC LearningHub understood our ‘build then specialise’ approach,” Christie added. “They helped accelerate deployment of our trained tech talent into live projects.”

Furthermore, NTUC LearningHub’s support helped GECO Asia to secure the SkillsFuture Employer Awards: Gold Award in 2023, highlighting the strength and success of their collaboration.

Building workforce resilience

With technology evolving at a rapid pace, technical skills alone are no longer enough—human skills like problem-solving, communication, and design thinking are now just as critical to success.

The collaboration between NTUC LearningHub and GECO Asia strengthens both human and technical expertise, building a resilient workforce. Christie acknowledged that this partnership has been instrumental in enhancing delivery speed, adaptability, and talent retention, underscoring how it has allowed them to stay ahead of the curve.

Sharing a piece of advice to companies who are looking to upskill their workforce, Christie emphasised that talent emerges as the ultimate differentiator.

“Companies that invest in people today are the ones that will adapt and thrive tomorrow. And employees who grow with you become your best advocates and innovators,” she said.

As GECO Asia expands into emerging areas like applied AI, sustainable tech, and advanced analytics, they pledge to continue evolving their Tech Talent Accelerator framework whilst collaborating with strategic partners to build lasting foundations.

With NTUC LearningHub supporting their journey, GECO Asia is confident they can go broader, deeper and further.
