CBRE opens ‘bigger, better, bolder’ office at Marina Bay
The ‘Emerald of the City’ is 75% larger and features a smart design.
CBRE Singapore has moved to Marina Bay Financial Centre (MBFC) as part of its “bigger, better, bolder” expansion after 24 years in its Six Battery Road office.
The 21,000-square-foot office—the “Emerald of the City”—is 75% larger and features smart and sustainable design.
“Like a radiant emerald, CBRE embodies the essence of excellence, expertise, and elegance,” said CBRE. “The colour of emerald is also closely aligned with our corporate colours.”
“Our new and bigger city centre office delivers increased floor space, and even more importantly, the ability to accommodate an even wider range of services, capabilities, and professionals,” Moray Armstrong, managing director for advisory at CBRE Singapore, said in an emailed reply to questions.

CBRE uses technology to enhance sustainability and well-being. For example, the space monitors air quality, occupancy, energy consumption by zone, lighting, and noise levels in real time.
There are also vertical hydroponic gardens of herbs, and “living walls” that adapt to air quality data.
The office has energy meters beyond the main building meter to track the energy consumption for open office and meeting rooms.

Its light fittings are dimmable and controlled by occupancy and photocell sensors, which could cut electricity use by 20%.
“We are aligning the office space and features to meet the requirements of each set of certifications for Green Mark Platinum, WELL, and LEED Gold,” CBRE said. “We are making a submission for formal certification with the relevant organisations now that we have commenced operations in the MBFC office.”
CBRE's workplace design is driven by data for informed decisions in the future, and to offer insights to their clients about the real impact of smart designs on people’s well-being, the environment, and costs.
“We have an ambition to keep our colleagues happy and healthy, and aim to design and maintain a workplace that positively impacts their lives and wellbeing,” CBRE said. “Some well-being-focused features include quiet workspaces to accommodate hyper-sensitive employees, as well as a social hub for those who need to be stimulated.”
The office has an in-house barista who makes freshly brewed coffee for both clients and employees.

“The Marina Bay location places us right at the heart of Singapore’s business community, allowing us to enhance our client and employee experience,” Armstrong said. “It is an ideal position from which we can drive growth in the centre of Singapore’s financial district.”
