1 in 3 employees considers job change within a year
They prefer opportunities with better salaries and recognition.
One in three employees in Singapore in 2025 is considering quitting their jobs within a year, as they search for workplaces that can offer better salaries, recognition, career growth, and flexibility.
Fifty-four percent of employees said that a better salary would prompt them to leave their current employers, making salary package the top priority of the workforce, JLL said in its Workforce Preference Insights 2025.
Salary package is still the top reason for attrition in 2025, despite it declining 13% from 67% in 2022, JLL added.
It is followed by poor recognition from employees' manager (36%), limited professional and skills development (35%), and lack of flexibility (34%). These ratings are up 13%, 9%, and 5%, respectively, over 2022 figures.
The trend is consistent with findings from the Aon 2025 Human Capital Employee Sentiment Study, which found that seven in ten (67%) of employees in Singapore are considering changing jobs within the next year, higher than the global average of 60%.
Regarding work flexibility, 27% of Singapore workers reported having complete autonomy in choosing their work location, the People at Work 2025 global workforce study by ADP Research found.
The 27% was equal to the Asia-Pacific average but trailing regional leaders like India (45%) and the Philippines (43%), it added.
In the JLL survey, other reasons that can influence workers to switch jobs include the lack of care from their employer and feeling no longer aligned with the company.
The study surveyed employees across Asia, with 500 respondents from Singapore across industries such as technology, banking, education, energy, and telecoms, amongst others.
