In Singapore, we dun need no education leh

Spending on education slumped 11.5 % over the last year, according the boffins at the Statistics department.

According to the Department of Statistics, a few services industries experienced double-digit growth in first quarter 2011, including recreation & personal services (36.9%), health & social services (15.2%) and financial & insurance services (12.6%).

All the other services industries except education experienced turnover growths of between 4.9% and 7.0%.

Overall business receipts jumped 8.2% in the first quarter compared to the same period in 2010.
