Singapore is Asia’s most expensive city to live in 2025: report

The city-state also ranked 11th globally.

Singapore is the most expensive city to live in Asia and ranks 11th globally, according to Numbeo’s Cost of Living Index 2025.

Singapore scored 79.1% in the cost of living (excluding rent), following a baseline index of 100% for New York City (NYC), indicating that the city-state is 20.9% cheaper than NYC.

In terms of rent, Singapore scored 67.0%, whilst its groceries and restaurants indices were 70.8% and 53.5%, respectively.

Meanwhile, the combined cost of living plus rent index stood at 73.7%, and purchasing power was recorded at 93.8%.
