Payments firm Canvas floats card, app for household spending

Clients can transfer funds and manage spending on the card via their phones.

Singapore-based mobile payments firm Canvas has launched the Canvas Card and App, a cashless pocket money and family finance app with an accompanying prepaid Visa card.

Designed for families and their household dependents in Singapore, the app brings more visibility to household spending and provides parents full access over their children’s expenses. It can also be used by employers of domestic workers to manage household purchases.

Clients can register, add cardholders, order cards, transfer funds onto the Canvas card, and manage spending through their mobile devices.

The Canvas Card and App is now available on Google Play and Apple App store. New customers can enjoy a 30-day free trial of the Canvas Visa card upon registration on the app. Thereafter, the card is available for subscription at S$2.99 per month for each card.

Until end-May, Canvas is offering a S$5 sign up bonus credited to each Visa card for children.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
