Futu Singapore snags Technology Excellence Award for Fintech - Trading Services

Its investment app enables investors to make informed and streamlined decisions with intelligent analytics tools.

Committed to uplifting the online trading landscape with advanced technology integration and personalised, intelligent investing experiences, Futu Singapore (Futu SG) rolled out its investment super-app moomoo that offers investment products for trading.

Launched in March 2021, Futu SG’s moomoo platform provides investors with a wide array of intelligent analytics tools, including Star Institutions, an AI monitor, technical analysis indicators, fundamental analysis indicators, valuation analysis, position cost distribution and similar charts. A key tool is the Singapore Asset Analysis Capability, which analyses portfolio performance through different dimensions, such as asset distribution, yield trend, total asset trend, income calendar and other production trends, to empower investors to make informed and streamlined decisions, and unlock more investing opportunities.

Futu SG places heavy emphasis on investor education and this is encompassed by a monthly paper trading competition through moomoo, which sees over 15,000 participants each month in Singapore’s market alone, practising their investing strategies to gain confidence before they trade in the real world.

Functionalities such as a daily leaderboard of top performers enable users to strengthen their investment strategies and trade executions for their portfolios whilst allowing them to track possible returns in an augmented environment. This is further supplemented by its large, active, in-app community on moomoo which is unlike any other offered by a brokerage firm. Futu SG offers investors an inclusive and supportive platform, organically promoting financial literacy as they exchange insights and experiences with one another.

In less than a year since its launch in Singapore, moomoo has gained popular adoption in the market through its mission of revolutionising the investing landscape, making it easier, smarter, and more accessible for all.

“It strikes a delicate balance between offering a user-friendly, digital-first interface as well as advanced tech-driven product features, thus filling the market gap between incumbents from traditional financial institutions and online brokerages,” Mr Gavin Chia, Managing Director, Futu SG (moomoo) said.

Within its first year, Futu SG also achieved the unprecedented feat of becoming the first digital brokerage to be offered approvals-in-principles (AIPs) for all Singapore Exchange (SGX) memberships. Through its trading platform moomoo, Futu SG receives AIPs for full trading and clearing memberships for securities and derivatives in Singapore, underscoring how it stands out in the competitive industry in the country and benefitting users and clients of moomoo through a further enhanced investing experience.

Thanks to its technology-driven social trading experience that allows users to review trades easily and generate trading notes by simply selecting dates, Futu Singapore won the Fintech - Trading Services award at the recently concluded Technology Excellence Awards, presented by Singapore Business Review. In its fourth year, the awards event lauds companies in Singapore that have pioneered ground-breaking IT products, solutions or initiatives that are leading the technological revolution and digital journeys of their respective industries.

Through the integration of investor education and intelligent analytics tools on moomoo, Futu Singapore's Q4 2021 financial results found that 10% of Singapore's adult population over the age of 20 are moomoo users, with assets under management increasing by 25.7% quarter-on-quarter.

“Futu SG will continue to drive industry-firsts to offer a redefined user experience that has agility, stability, scalability and security, bringing an unparalleled investing experience to disrupt tradition, drive simplicity and promote inclusion,” Mr Gavin Chia, Managing Director, Futu SG (moomoo) said.

Futu SG adopts AI and big data technologies widely across various aspects including the construction of trading channels, business process optimisation, provision of millisecond-level market data, data security and expansion of product offerings. Over 70% of staff at Futu globally are in research and development, and continuously drive the expansion and upgrading of the system’s capabilities, whilst working on high-touch services that serve and anticipate the needs of users.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
