3 big changes to Singapore healthcare you should know right now

How will healthcare firms be affected?

According to DBS, in the National Day Rally, the Prime Minister unveiled three major changes to healthcare in Singapore.

These pertain to MediShield (a basic medical insurance for Singaporeans), usage of MediSave (a healthcare savings scheme) and Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS, a subsidy scheme to help defray medical/ dental costs for older, low income Singaporeans).

While details are yet to be released, we believe the impending changes are unlikely to have major impact on private healthcare providers.

The changes, as we see it, seem to be catered towards assisting the lower income and older residents. 

For instance, the revision of MediShield (to change to MediShield Life) for persons with pre-existing conditions and with no age limit, is likely to increase the number of persons insured under MediShield, but we believe there should be no
