Singapore delays business travel bubble plans

The plan was first announced in December 2020.

The programme to house business travellers to Singapore in a bubble within appointed facilities and without the need for quarantine has been delayed.

The first batch of travellers were supposed to be allowed by the second half of January 2021, but the facilities are yet to be opened.

Named Connect@Singapore, the plan was first announced in December 2020 by Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing as part of Singapore’s efforts to reopen the country’s borders in a controlled manner.

Connect@Singapore will facilitate essential global business exchanges and support the revival of Singapore’s air hub status and hospitality sector.

Under the plan, Connect@Singapore will be open to a limited number of business, official, and high economic value travellers from all countries who are coming to Singapore for short-term stays of up to 14 days.

Travellers will be required to stay within a bubble at dedicated facilities and be under strict health protocols.
