Sports tourism drives surge in SG inbound bookings
The strongest YoY growth in bookings came from Indonesia (36%).
Singapore recorded a significant increase in inbound bookings for July and August, driven by sport tourism, according to a Trip.com report.
According to the report, inbound travel bookings during the World Aquatics Championships 2025 from 11 July to 3 August increased by 31%, whilst bookings for the Singapore Festival of Football 2025 surged by 50% year-on-year.
Millennials (53%) formed the largest group of sports travellers, followed by Generation X and Generation Z.
Amongst the top source markets, the strongest YoY growth in bookings came from Indonesia (36%), followed by China (24%), Thailand (16%), Malaysia (14%), and Hong Kong (11%).
Moreover, travellers preferred four-star accommodation (46%), ahead of the 31% who booked three-star and 23% who chose five-star accommodations.
