3 in 4 employers spy on job applicants' online accounts: survey
They look at your LinkedIn, Facebook profiles.
According to the latest online survey conducted by JobsCentral, 3 in 4 employers (75.1%) in Singapore conduct online research on job candidates.
Among social media networks, LinkedIn emerged as the most commonly used source with 38.4% of the employers checking on potential job candidates' accounts. This is followed by Facebook at 34.3%.
Employers also use search engines (27.5%), personal blogs (7.1%), and Twitter (6.6%) to spy on their candidates. Interestingly, after searching online, 14.4% of the employers said they would not hire someone with an unprofessional nickname.
