COTD: Singaporean workforce job satisfaction declines

Millennials reported the largest drop in job satisfaction.

The Singaporean workforce Job Satisfaction index has declined by 9 percentage points (pp) since 2024, driven by a drop in job security (-13pp) and job satisfaction (11pp), according to a ManpowerGroup report.

Millennials reported the largest drop in job satisfaction, with a decrease of 21 pps.

The report also found that 50% of managers are bracing for possible job loss in the coming six months. Whilst this is the case, 66% of employees believe their managers have their backs.

Moreover, employee confidence inched up by 1 pp since 2024, driven by a reported increase in career development (+5pp), and experience and skills (+8pp).

Further, gender inequality persists in 2025, with women (58%) reporting fewer career moves and promotions, whilst 69% of men report having opportunities for promotion.

Additionally, half (53%) of Singapore’s workforce experiences moderate to high daily stress levels, with Gen Z (62%) reporting the highest daily stress.

This is despite the workforce finding their work meaningful and purposeful (75%) and feeling aligned to the organisation’s values (72%).

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
