Gov't to roll out support scheme for retrenched workers late 2024

The government is finalising the details of the scheme.

The Ministry of Manpower (MOM) will unveil a new support scheme for involuntarily unemployed job seekers in late 2024.

“The pace of change in the economy is accelerating, and we know that more workers will likely be thrown curveballs,” said Minister for Manpower Tan See Leng in his May Day speech.

“We have heard and heeded the call to further support our workers who find themselves displaced through no fault of their own,” Tan said.

In the Budget speech, Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong stated that the government is finalising the details of a financial support scheme to aid retrenched workers as they seek new employment or undergo training.
