Hiring! Job openings in Singapore double from last year

Demand for talent elevated the most in the production sector.

Unemployed individuals in Singapore need not worry as there are many work positions up for grabs in the country, according to the job search platform, Indeed.

Based on their survey, Indeed said job postings in their platform jumped 106% from February 1, 2020.

Across sectors, the demand for talent elevated the most in the production sector, followed by engineering, installation and maintenance sectors. The growth seen in these three sectors exceeded the national average throughout the pandemic.

Indeed said continuous job growth is good for job seekers and a “speaks volumes about the confidence that businesses have in that recovery”; however, such creates a more challenging recruitment environment.

“Recruiters need to be mindful of how they can best attract more candidates to new job opportunities,” Indeed said.

Indeed added that recruiters can make the best of the situation by anticipating skills shortages — which is expected to become more widespread — and adjusting their recruitment strategies accordingly.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
