Singapore sees rising demand for technical roles

Hiring in other segments remains mixed.

Technical roles have seen rising demand across Singapore in the past three months, with engineering roles leading the way, according to an Indeed report.

The report reveals that civil engineering job postings have risen by almost 19% since February 2025, ahead of mechanical (+14%) and industrial (+6.5%) engineering roles.

Hiring in other segments remains mixed. Technology-related roles such as data analytics (+5.6%) and software development (+0.9%) saw increases along with childcare (+13%) and sports (+12%) roles.

Management roles have risen slightly by 1.3% to 13.5%, whilst the share of job postings for education roles has increased to 4.7%, from 4.3% a year ago.

However, there were fewer hiring in pharmacy (-45%), veterinary (-19%), physicians and surgeons (-19%), medical technicians (-18%), and medical information (-19%) roles.

The largest declines in the past year were in software development, down 1.2 percentage points, ahead of retail (-0.8% points), marketing (-0.6% points), and scientific research (-0.6%).

“While some job postings are declining, the pace of decline has not increased, suggesting that we have not yet seen an employer response to a weaker global economic outlook,” Callam Pickering, Senior Economist at Indeed, said.

Growth across most sectors remains healthy compared to pre-pandemic levels, with 10% of sectors enjoying twice the number of postings.

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
