Founded by 31-year old Darren Neubronner, Grabz aims to help small businesses gain recognition and greater awareness for their exciting food offerings and concepts. Darren, who comes from a family that runs cafe and catering businesses, said that the whole idea of Grabz is to ensure that smart consumers are able to enjoy an affluent lifestyle at an affordable price.
The idea was first developed when Darren, who also serves as director of Grabz, was thinking of ways to leverage on Singapore’s burgeoning F&B scene and connect ‘smart value’ driven Singaporeans with customer hungry businesses that were willing to offer the best rewards. He was also passionate about helping small businesses survive in a highly costly and competitive environment. “In Singapore, 80-85% of F&B businesses close after 18-28 months due to the high operational costs. This also means that most businesses have little to no funds left for advertising,” he reckons.
With the high influx of business formations, and over 80 new cafes and bars opening in Singapore each month, Grabz believes it can add value to both the businesses and the smart consumers.
Grabz utilizes inbuilt Geo-fencing technology to notify users about the hottest insider privileges around them through location based alerts. Users will also receive gifts from various merchants during their birthday months. Subscribers also get to enjoy exclusive promotions to luxury features like discounted business class flight tickets and ‘members only’ prices on limited edition luxury watches.
Darren prides that this app has also secured notable restaurants and bars such as Muddy Murphy's, Attica, Sacha and Sons and Barraka and offers pure freebies to its premium members.
According to Darren, they are looking to expand the app’s reach into popular holiday destinations such as Bangkok and Hong Kong by the 4th quarter of this year and hopes to secure at least 30-50 merchants in those cities. They also hope to target tourist who often travel to Singapore for leisure.
