The black hole of China: New Facebook map shows middle kingdom has few friends

Facebook has released a map which shows Facebook users and their connections around the world, but China remains a black hole in this friendship map of the world.

Released in early December, the map is taking the Facebook world by storm and shows a rare glimpse of how people connect across boundaries and the links between cities. Indonesia shows up bright white - and so it should with the second highest number of Facebook users in the world. The Filipinos are also very social, as are the Malaysians and of course the Singaporeans. India is well covered but there is a gaping hole in the first ever friendship map of the world - China. The lights shine dimly, if at all, in China, a country which, at least in Facebook terms, is close to North Korea in friendship stakes.
