Firms face data, governance gaps in AI deployment: survey

More than half (53%) of organisations in Singapore lack the robust data infrastructure needed to support agentic AI systems.

As Singaporean organisations accelerate their adoption of advanced AI technologies, a survey found concerns are growing over risks of poor data foundations preventing them from maximising their investment.

A new survey by SS&C Blue Prism revealed that more than half (53%) of organisations in Singapore lack the robust data infrastructure needed to support agentic AI systems, such as AI tools capable of autonomous decision-making and task execution.

Key challenges include inadequate data readiness, governance, and cybersecurity frameworks.

Without reliable systems in place, AI deployments risk becoming underutilised or ineffective. Critical capabilities such as automated workflows, real-time monitoring, and scalable deployment may be compromised.

Despite these challenges, interest in agentic AI remains high. The survey, which gathered responses from 1,650 senior decision-makers across the Asia-Pacific region, found that one in three organisations in Singapore intends to deploy agentic AI within the next 12 months.

Experts warn, however, that organisations need to treat AI not as a plug-and-play solution, but as part of a broader transformation strategy that includes clean, secure, and well-governed data pipelines.
