Singapore rolls out AI Verify Foundation

This will support the development of AI for the use of global firms and regulators.

Singapore launched the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Verify Foundation to support the development of AI tools and their responsible use for adoption by global companies and regulators.

In a statement, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) said the foundation, promotes organisations’ responsible use of AI through standardised tests as technologies for such are still nascent.

The foundation will also cultivate an open-source community which will be allowed to contribute to “AI testing frameworks, code base, standards and best practices and create a neutral platform for open collaboration and idea-sharing on testing and governing AI.”

AI Verify is an AI governance testing framework and software toolkit launched as a minimum viable product for an international pilot last year. Over 50 local and multinational firms, including IBM, Dell, Hitachi and UBS subscribed to AI Verify.

The roadmap for AI Verify is supported by its seven pioneering premier members which are IMDA, Aicadium, IBM, Microsoft, Google, Red Hat, and Salesforce.

The Foundation, meanwhile, will have over 60 general members which include Adobe, DBS, Meta, SenseTime, and Singapore Airlines.

Josephine Teo, Singapore’s Minister for Communications and Information, said the support of the private sector will be needed for the development of AI.

“The private sector with their expertise can participate meaningfully to achieve these goals with us,” she said.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
