Singapore's average internet speed up 5.3% in Q3

It ranked 6th globally, with an average speed of 18.2 Mbps.

Singapore remained in the top 10 countries with the fastest internet connection speed, according to the latest Akamai State of the Internet report.

In the third quarter of 2016, the global average connection speed was 6.3 Mbps, a 2.3% increase from the second quarter. Singapore is the only country to see a quaterly increase, and leading the top 10 with 5.3% increase in average connection speeds to 18.2 Mbps.
 

  

South Korea still leads globally, though average internet speed in the country is 2.5% lower than the previous quarter. Hong Kong came next, with 3.4% increase in average speeds to 20.1 Mbps.

Singapore also led the gain in average peak connection speeds with 3% gain, posting an average peak connection speed of
162.0 Mbps, nearly twice as fast as 10th place Romania.
