Chart of the day: 6 in 10 says Singapore Grand Prix is good for the country
Only 1 in 3, however, said they will follow the race in person or online.
This chart from YouGov shows that six in 10 Singaporean adults think that the Formula One Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix has a positive impact on the country.
This comes even as just one in three say they intend to follow the race in person or online (37%), indicating that positive sentiment transcends whether residents identify as fans or not. Amongst F1 fans, however, positive sentiment is even higher with eight in 10 saying the race has a positive impact on the country.
Respondents were also asked which sector do they think the race will most postively impact. 81% said tourism will benefit from the resumption of the Singapore Grand Prix whilst 70% said it will be the entertainment industry.
Two-thirds said it has improved the country’s international standing (68%), overall economy (67%) and retail (66%). On the other hand, areas which residents were most likely to say have been negatively affected were the environment (37%), local transport (26%) and security (11%).
