Chart of the day: Transport engineering output shoots up 32% in June

Output in the marine & offshore engineering segment increased by 44%.

This chart from the Economic Development Board of Singapore shows the recorded output of all clusters in the manufacturing industry, with transport engineering having the most growth at 32%.

This was because of increased activity in the marine and offshore engineering segment and aerospace segment which grew by 44% and 32.2%, respectively. H1 2022 output in the transport engineering cluster grew by 17.7% compared to the same period last year.

Aside from the transport engineering cluster, only the general manufacturing sector logged a double-digit growth at 10.1%. This shows that for the month, manufacturing output has started to slow down. Meanwhile, precision engineering grew by 5.6% whilst the electronics cluster grew by 2.3%.

Biomedical manufacturing and chemicals went down by 9.2% and 11%, respectively for the month of June.

Total manufacturing output went up by 2.2% in June.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

The people you want to reach are already in this room.

Every quarter, SBR lands on the desks of the founders, CFOs, and directors running Asia's most consequential companies. Every day, they open our newsletter and read our website. It's a room that took twenty years to build — and it's the one most of our partners are trying to get into.

The good news is that the door is open. We work with companies on thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. The shape of the right partnership depends on what you're trying to do, which is why we'd rather start with a conversation than send a rate card.

If you have something this room should know about, tell us. We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how.

No rate cards until we understand the brief. It's a better use of everyone's time.
