IPOS launches new unit to help businesses commercialise intangible assets

One of the programmes offered is Illuminate for Enterprises, which can assess firms' IP management status.

The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) has set up a subsidiary that aims to support business growth through the commercialisation of their intangible assets (IA) and intellectual property (IP), an announcement revealed.

The new entity, IPOS International, will provide customised programmes and advisory services tailored to specific business needs. The unit has about 100 individuals with skills on IP strategy and management, patent search and analysis, and IP education and training. One of the features it has is the Illuminate for Enterprises tool, which helps businesses assess their IP management status.

Companies may also tap on IPOS’ networks covering 90% of global trade to boost their global expansion plans through their IP and IA.

In addition, IPOS also launched the Skills Framework for IP, where a deal with five other IP offices and an overseas media organisation will be inked to support the translation of ideas and IP into products and services.

A NOTE FROM SINGAPORE BUSINESS REVIEW

If you've been wondering whether SBR could work for your company — yes, probably.

A lot of the companies we partner with started as readers. They'd been following our coverage for a while, saw their own customers and competitors in it, and eventually asked the obvious question: could we do something with you? The answer is usually yes. The shape of it depends on what you're trying to do.

The options are broader than most people assume — thought leadership articles, sponsored content, industry summits across Southeast Asia, regional awards programmes, podcasts, and media placements in print and digital. Some partners use one channel; most use a mix. We figure out the right combination by starting with your brief, not with our rate card.

So if the question has been on your mind, here's the easy way to ask it.

We'll tell you honestly whether we can help, and how. It's a better use of everyone's time.
