Manulife IM Malaysia launches Singapore equity fund

The fund gives Malaysian investors exposure to Singapore equities amid market reforms aimed at improving liquidity.

Manulife Investment Management has launched the Manulife Singapore Equity Fund, giving investors in Malaysia access to income and long-term capital growth opportunities in Singapore’s equity market.

The fund is an all-cap strategy structured as a feeder fund that invests in the Manulife Singapore Opportunities Income Fund, which is actively managed by Manulife Investment Management (Singapore).

Manulife IM Malaysia said the launch comes as Singapore’s equity market undergoes structural reforms, including the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s S$6.5b Equity Market Development Programme.

The programme aims to channel long-term capital into Singapore equities, improve market liquidity, broaden investor participation, and support better research coverage and valuation of quality companies.

Manulife Investment Management was appointed by MAS in November 2025 as one of the asset managers under the programme.

The target fund typically allocates around 60% to large-cap companies for resilience and 40% to small- and mid-cap companies, where valuation discounts may narrow as liquidity and price discovery improve.

The target fund currently offers a portfolio yield of about 4.2%, providing investors with recurring income alongside exposure to long-term equity growth.
